  • Book Exhibit

The Society for Iranian Studies will be holding its Fifth Biennial Conference at the Bethesda Hyatt Regency in Bethesda, Maryland from May 28-30, 2004. The conference includes a book exhibit for publishers with titles of general interest to scholars as well as a wider reading public in the field of Iranian culture and civilization as well as Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies. The book exhibit offers space for individual displays as well as a combined exhibit for publishers with only one or two titles. In 2002, the conference drew more than 600 paid registrants.

The cost for an individual exhibition space (including a table 72X30 inches, wall space, and room for seating and storage behind the table) is $200 for the three days. Additional tables (up to three) are available at $350 for two and $500 for three. The combined book exhibit will be attended by SIS-designated staff. Space in the combined exhibit will be charged at a rate of $25 per title on exhibit.

Advertising

The conference program accepts advertising. All ads must be submitted camera ready, preferably as PDF files with embedded fonts. The deadline for submission of advertisements is Friday, April 16.

The ISIS offers a 20% discount for advertising to those renting exhibit space at the biennial meeting. Checks for ads should be submitted to Haideh Sahim, ISIS Executive Director, as directed above. Ads should be e-mailed to Dr. Anne Betteridge anneb@u.arizona.edu.

Space and set-ups

The exhibition space is the combined Old Georgetown and Congressional Rooms of the hotel, an approximately rectangular space measuring 54 feet by 39 feet. We expect to have room for about 30 exhibition spaces. There are currently 13 spaces available. Set-up time is from noon until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 27th. All books and materials must be removed from the room by 5:00 p.m., Sunday, May 30.

Saturday, May 29 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
Sunday, May 30 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
